2024 field update

Dear Family and Friends,

As we come to the end of 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible love, support and prayers we’ve received from all of you throughout this year. It’s been a year of abundant blessings and great challenges. We want to take a moment to share some updates, highlight and needs that have occurred as we close out this year.

Ministry Update:  This year we’ve seen God move powerfully in and through the ministry here in Zambia. It has a lot to do with your continued prayers and support. God has provided the finances to drill a well and get clean drinking water within the village. God has provided the materials needed to build our home that we moved into on October 10th. God has provided the labor and finances to fix the hand pump over and over again. God has provided the finances to purchase a solar system to power our home. God has provided the seed and labor to sow, not once, but twice this year. God has provided the rains as we sit and watch the seeds germinate. God has allowed our discipleship groups to continue to meet and give regular updates on how things are going.

God has allowed Irene, (one of the sponsored kids) with hard work and dedication, to skip grade 6 and pass her grade 7 exams.

God has allowed Regina, age 12 to join us on her winter break. She is adjusting after the loss of her grandmother to cancer earlier this year. She is overjoyed to enter into grade 6 and write her exams this coming year.

With all this wonderful news of God’s provision and blessings, there have been some recent setbacks and challenges. But God remains faithful and we are witnessing (both in town and the village) His transformative power. None of this would be possible without you! We are so grateful to have a committed and dedicated team like you alongside us in this journey.

Our call to the village and The Community Garden Center:

We believe and trust God is in the details and what He has put on our hearts. During the last 3 months we moved to and are living in Siamatete village area where God wants us to serve. We started developing the community garden center, building relationships, visiting some of the communities within, attending a few local churches and starting up a Saturday youth/kids program.

On December 13th a powerful wind storm (whirlwind), caused significant damage to our home here in the village. The roof was lifted up and then dropped down. It literally felt like we were in a war zone with dust and stones crumbling around us, having to run through the house to get the children who were sleeping. We give praise and thanks to God that no one was hurt. The damage to our home is replaceable and overwhelming at times. We are currently staying in a structure made out of iron sheets from the damaged roof. The repairs needed for the house are a new roof, 3 pillars need to come down and be rebuilt, electrical wiring, new glass for all the windows and walls need reinforced, as some of the walls are separating from the side of the house. We are praying the solar equipment is still working, but have not been able to test it yet.

We decided with Hadassah’s declining health of seizure control and God’s leading, that it would be best for us to move back to town temporarily. We will rent a house until we have the finances available to repair our home. We started strong and want to continue serving in the village we’ve been called to.

Prayer: We ask for your continued support in prayer as God leads our next step in expansion of His ministry, community garden project (solar irrigation system), Hadassah’s health, healthcare needs and repairs to our home. We are asking for prayer in strength, resilience, provision, perseverance and wisdom. As we enter into 2025, we are filled with hope and anticipation for what God will continue to do through His ministry we have the pleasure serving in. With your help, we are confident that we will be able to rebuild stronger than before and continue our mission of spreading the Gospel and serving those in need through His program called “Community Bank.” We thank you for standing strong with us through the highs and lows of this year. Your support means the world to us and our surrounding community.

We are so honored to be called your partners in His masterpiece.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed holiday season and a joyful New Year.

With gratitude,

The Muunga Family

Fred, Faith, Hadassah, Asher and Anne
